Google ventures into the world of foldable phones

The Google Pixel Fold stands out for featuring two high-quality OLED screens, with the second generation of processors created by Samsung for the Big G, the Tensor G2, and a camera system similar to what we saw on the Pixel 7 Pro.

In terms of design, the Google Pixel Fold inherits the aesthetic of the Pixel 7 series, as it features the characteristic rear camera module in a bar shape, although this time it will not span the entire width up to the hinge because it won't reach the edges. It is a book-style device, so we are talking about two screens: a rectangular one and a square one inside that thrilled the event attendees. It has a folding system very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold4 and OPPO Find N2, which, according to the brand, has the most durable hinge in a foldable phone, and with quite slim bezels making it the thinnest foldable on the market.

OLED Screen

The Google Pixel Fold bets on a camera system similar to the Pixel 7 Pro. Let's start with what is clearly the front, which measures 5.8 inches with an OLED panel at FHD resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. This same feature is also carried over to the 7.6-inch inner screen, which is also an OLED panel. Each has a front selfie camera of 9.5 MPX and 8 MPX on the outer and inner panels respectively.

But if we talk about cameras, we also have to mention the three on the back side. These will be housed in a rectangular module with beveled edges and will feature a 48 MPX main sensor, a 10.8 MPX 5x telephoto lens, and a 10.8 MPX ultra wide-angle lens.

Google Tensor G2 Processor

With these capabilities, there is no doubt that this is a high-performance phone, matching the Pixel 7 Pro, although both share the Google Tensor G2 processor with 12GB of RAM and an internal UFS 3.1 storage for better write and read speeds.

On the software side, it also excels thanks to artificial intelligence. We're not just talking about all the technology that makes these phones special. It will come with really interesting features like Interpreter Mode with Google Translate, seamless playback from the small screen to the large one, and new options that work with the new toolbar and split-screen functions.

The Pixel Fold comes with over 50 Google apps optimized for large screens and a new taskbar that works across dual screens, allowing you to use two apps simultaneously and drag items from one to the other.

In terms of battery life, the Google Pixel Fold features a large 4,821 mAh battery with 30W fast charging.
